A thoughtful beginning to your Pilates journey.
Before you step into your first Pilates class or session, we take a little time to get to know your body - where it’s at right now, how it moves and what it might need.
Pregnancy, birth, or even just daily habits can shift the way we carry ourselves. These changes are completely normal, but they can sometimes place extra stress on the body, leading to tightness, weakness or discomfort over time.
A gentle, one-off Postural or Natal Assessment helps to create a Pilates experience that supports you fully. Building strength where it’s needed, easing areas of tension and helping you move with confidence.
Why I do a Postural Assessment / Natal Assessment?
Postural Assessment
-
It’s a relaxed and supportive time where we’ll:
Chat through your medical history and any current concerns
Take a look at how your body aligns from head to toe
Gently explore how you move through simple motions
Talk about what you’d like to get out of Pilates
Introduce some key Pilates principles so you feel confident and ready
It’s not a test, just an opportunity to notice how your body is working today, and how we can best support it together.

For anyone who’d like to start Pilates at The Nurtured Being — whether you’re completely new, returning after time off or just wanting to move with more awareness and support.
Pregnancy Postural Assessment
-
As the body adjusts and adapts to the growing demands of a baby there may be changes in posture and muscle balance.
A postural assessment in pregnancy allows an opportunity to:
Chat through your medical history and pregnancy journey to date.
Take a look at how your body aligns / adapts to pregnancy
Gently explore movements and discus safe transitions plus Pilates position in pregnancy.
Talk about what you’d like to get out of Modified Pregnancy Pilates

For anyone who’d like to start Pilates at The Nurtured Being and is currently expecting.
Natal Assessment
-
During pregnancy and after birth, the body goes through big changes. This assessment offers a safe space to check in on how you’re healing and reconnecting with your body.
We’ll gently explore:
Your birth and postnatal experience
How your posture and movement may have shifted
Your tummy muscles and any separation (diastasis recti)
An external pelvic floor screen (just a gentle check-in – no internal exams)
Your goals or concerns as you return to movement
Key Pilates foundations to support you going forward
You don’t need to feel “back to normal”, in fact, you don’t need to feel any particular way at all. This is simply about meeting you where you are, and building from there.
